For You formed my inward parts;
You wove me in my mother’s womb.
I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made
Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth;
Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;
And in Your book were all written
The days that were ordained for me,
When as yet there was not one of them.

Obama is bringing back embryonic stem cell research. This is no surprise: he claims that is his own children are special but supports the killing of children who have been alive as a result of botched abortions.
What is embryonic stem cell research (ESCR)? Basically stem cells can be used to repair or replace all sorts of organs, avoiding the need for transplants. ESCR involves cutting up a baby/embryo that is a few days old to get the stem cells. I believe that life begins at conception and therefore ESCR is murder.
The crazy thing is that there is no need for ESCR, because stem cells can be found in adults and in umbilical cord blood. Using stem cells from these sources is not intrinsically immoral, and if the obtainment and application of these stem cells in consistent with biblical morality I’m all for it.
Why would anyone want to murder babies when there is a perfectly acceptable alternative? Pro-ESCR people can’t even claim the “lesser of two evils” justification.
What do you think about ESCR and Obama’s stance on abortion?

I agree, the Health System in New Zealand is always stretched.
To have all biblical adherents, withdraw from ‘the main-stream’ is best for both parties (secular/superstitios)and indeed totally consistent with your position.
Christian types (Catholics especially) should start standing-up for their beliefs and say demand a special denotation on their N.Z drivers-licences, that says:
- “In case of cancer I don’t want stem-cell treatment”.
- “If I can’t have a child by natural means, I accept this is Gods will, and please give my place for IVF to some other couple”.
This way, the non-superstitious amongst us, can enjoy the benefits of the advances in medical-science all to ourselves, and not be consistently knocked-backed by those in society that hang on to the dark-ages beliefs, and yet jump at the first chance they can get, when they (and their loved ones)are sadly stricken with an affliction that requires the latest medical treatment – even when it goes against the same beliefs, they fought against to ban.
Bible followers, like you, can always rely on say asking ‘the loving’ God, who gave say cancer in the first place , to cease (it’s called prayer) and ignore medicine that goes against your beliefs altogether, and those of us that want to rely on medicine & science alone, can enjoy the full gambit of treatments, in wards free of those who wanted their treatment banned (at least when they were healthy)
I support your moralistic stand 100%.
I’ll look-out for your righteous campaign to diverge yourself from mainstream medicine shortly.
Good on ya freeing beds for us Atheists!
Cheers.
Paul.
